DescriptionThis initiative supports rigorous institutional research training programs for low- and middle-income country (LMIC) scientists that enhance collaborative NIH research with U.S. scientists on specific noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), disorders, and health conditions. Each program should provide research training and mentorship with complementary skills development in data management, scientific presentation and publication, responsible conduct of research and others critical to the NCD focus area. Mentored trainee research projects will leverage collaborative NIH-funded studies in LMICs to better understand the etiology and epidemiology of NCDs in low resource settings.
