Used for1 INDICATIONS AND USAGE Atomoxetine oral solution is indicated for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adult and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older. Atomoxetine oral solution is indicated as an integral part of a total treatment program for ADHD that may include other measures (psychological, educational, social) for patients with ADHD. Atomoxetine oral solution is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) indicated for the treatment of ADHD in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older. ( 1 )
Dosage2 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Prior to initiating treatment with atomoxetine oral solution: Screen patients for a personal or family history of bipolar disorder, mania, or hypomania. ( 2.1 , 5.6 ) Consider genetic testing to determine the patient’s CYP2D6 metabolizer status prior to dosing. ( 2.1 , 2.5 ) See table below for the recommended atomoxetine oral solution dosage. WarningsWARNING: SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIORS IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS 6 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER All pediatric patients 6 years of age or older treated with atomoxetine oral solution should be monitored and observed closely for suicidal thoughts and behaviors, clinical worsening, or unusual changes in behavior, especially during the initial months of therapy or at times of dosage changes.
